Arte KC is a new-construction mixed-use development in downtown Kansas City. The parking garage for Arte KC is highly visible throughout the downtown area and for traffic coming to downtown from the south. The developer needed a visually appealing approach to the parking garage facade that also met the project’s budget demands.
Beginning in the schematic design phase, FlexFacades and the project architects determined that the facade would function as a canvas for art. We worked with Derek Porter Studio, the artist, to identify and translate various concepts and ideas into a singular public art piece. Because of the economic advantages of tensile cladding over metal, the clients were able to achieve a buzzworthy result without going over budget.
