The design of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Student Services Building in Ankeny, Iowa, is focused on making the building easy to find and use for all students. As a part of a concerted effort to clearly identify the building to prospective and new students, we designed, fabricated, and installed custom-printed tensile mesh sunshades. Made of coated PES, the shades and vertical tensile mesh shading fins function as a facade screening, reducing solar heat gain during the day while allowing interior light to show through at night.
