The new Art Complex on the Pleasant Hill campus of Diablo Valley College aims to centralize the college’s art programs in one location. To create a signature exterior facade that would resonate with the art students and faculty, the architects designed a decorative fin solution for the first floor. When the original metal design proved unworkable within the budget, FlexFacades worked with the architects to develop a value-engineered solution. An extruded aluminum frame is skinned on two sides with a Type 1B PES waterproof membrane, transforming the metal frame into a decorative element.
