The West Hyattsville Medical Center, a Kaiser Permanente facility in Hyattsville, Maryland, provides a range of medical care for adults and children. Built to accommodate a growing Hyattsville population, the newly constructed Medical Center is 37% larger than its predecessor, Prince George’s Medical Center. The adjacent three-story parking garage allows patients and their families to easily and safely access the Medical Center via a pedestrian walkway.Using the architect’s design, we provided design assist, engineering, fabrication, and installation of 11,000 square feet of FlexFacades cladding that met the project’s aesthetic goals at a substantially lower cost than metal mesh. The design specifications for a level appearance on a sloped structure required a complicated structure that incorporates steel tube framing. The cladding provides 50% airflow and incorporates printed graphics for a gradient effect.
