The four-story podium parking garage of luxury apartment building Miami Midtown 5 features a FlexFacades screening system made up of a tensile mesh, custom structural steel/standoffs, and aluminum extrusions. The flexibility of the tensile mesh allows for freedom of form and shapes in the design and made it possible for both flat and custom curved panels to be incorporated. Because the tensile mesh is breathable (providing natural ventilation), expensive mechanical ventilation is not required in most applications. The custom palette causes the parking garage to blend seamlessly into the main building; at the same time, the opacity provides views out of the parking garage.
We designed, fabricated and installed the FlexFacades solution for approximately half the cost of a perforated metal or metal mesh facade. Our facade structures are designed to full ASCE 7 code wind loads, which include the region's required design hurricane winds
